Speakers:

Nancy Stubbs, Certified E-discovery Specialist, Best Best & Krieger
Topic: Public Records Laws, Requests and Responses

The California Public Records Act (PRA) was adopted to foster transparency, accountability and greater public access to government records, but compliance can be complicated, costly, and time consuming. This is especially true with increasing amounts of electronic data being stored, accessed and shared on both public and private devices. In this session, Best Best & Krieger LLP paralegal Nancy Stubbs will provide information on making the most of publicly available information, knowing requesters' rights, public offices' obligations and the secrets to a successful public records request, and much more. After completing this session, attendees will feel more confident in responding to PRA requests and complying with the laws governing public records.

Julie Harvey, IGP, CIP
Topic: Key Elements of Establishing an Information Governance Program

John J. Isaza, Esq. FAI, CEO of Information Governance Solutions
Jeff Lewis,  Farmers Insurance and President of Greater Los Angeles ARMA Chapter

Topic: Modernizing Information Governance Strategies

Holistic information governance is key to not only mitigate significant risks for the organization, but also to protect vital assets, while at the same time helping to maximize productivity. To achieve these lofty goals the organization must leverage its best independent professionals, prioritize its goals, and address them methodically along with the right cadence. In this session, Farmers Insurance (the 2017 ARMA International Award for Excellence winner) will share its approach to modernizing its information governance strategy. The session will provide insight into the records management and eDiscovery tools it has adopted to implement its information governance strategies, including insight into the policies developed at Farmers Insurance to help embrace records and information management.
