Join us for our last meeting of the fiscal year and welcome our new and returning board members.

Steve Gray will be our speaker today and will be speaking about Attitude: the Extra Plus in Leading.

Attitude is one of many assets that make great leaders. Leadership has less to do with position than it does with disposition.  The disposition of a leader is important because it will influence the way followers think and feel.  Great leaders understand that the right attitude will set the right climate enabling the right responses from others.  Without a good attitude we will never reach our full leadership potential.  Just as our attitudes are the extra pluses in life, they also make the difference in leading initiatives and others.

About our speaker:

STEVE GRAY managed Central Records for World Vision’s International Global Centre LA offices located in Monrovia, California. His primary responsibility was managing information used for reference, statue, or organizational history purposes.  Steve was a member of the Knowledge Management unit within the Evidence and Learning group.  The Knowledge Management group continues to bring together the people, processes, and technology enabling World Vision to change data into information, information to knowledge, and knowledge into learning and application.    

World Vision is an international Christian humanitarian organization supporting projects in 95 nations. The organization assists the poor in sustainable community-based development focusing especially on the needs of children.

Recently retired after 46 years with World Vision, Steve held a variety of positions with the organization between 1971 and 1988. In the summer of 1988, he became responsible for Central Records.  In 1993 he received the “Outstanding Performance Award” for the office in Monrovia.

Steve received his formal education at Point Loma Nazarene University and later additional courses at Citrus College and the Caltech Industrial Relations Center.

Active in ARMA since 1988, he held several chapter board positions including two terms as president with the Southern California Inland Empire Chapter. He was selected Chapter Member of the Year in both 1991 and 1994.  Steve is currently active within his home chapter as Chapter Historian.  SCIE ARMA inducted him into the SCIE ARMA Hall of Fame as Chapter Star Number Two during the chapter’s 30th anniversary celebration.

Steve served the ARMA Pacific Region as a Region Coordinator and Region Manager. In 2005 he was the second Region Leader inducted into the Pacific Region Stars Hall of Fame.

Steve served three years on ARMA International’s Board of Directors. His association involvements included: the Awards Committee, the Communication Advisory Committee, Branding Task Force, Leadership Task Force, Chair of the Leadership Development and Training Committee, and Election Management Task Force.  He championed Self-assessment and Conflict of Interest initiatives while on the ARMA Board of Directors.  And he led efforts in creating and implementing the chapter grants/scholarship program.

Over the last twenty-nine years, Steve has spoken at numerous chapters and region leadership conferences. He led interactive sessions on diversity and culture at three ARMA Annual Conferences.
