October is National Cyber Security Awareness Month

Speaker: Michael Sohn, FBI Supervisory Special Agent

Topic:Cyber Security/Threatscape-Business Email Compromise (BEC), $5.2 Billion Dollar Crime Effecting Your Agency

Supervisory Special Agent (SSA) Michael Sohn currently leads a squad at the FBI Los Angeles Field Division that is responsible for investigating computer and high-technology crimes.  His investigative experience includes cyber terrorism, nation-state and criminal cyber intrusion matters.  Prior to his employment with the FBI, he worked as a Cyber Counterintelligence Officer for the Department of the Army, a Counter Terrorism officer for the Defense Intelligence Agency, a consultant at Booz Allen Hamilton and a U.S. Army Officer.  Mr. Sohn received a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science from the United States Military Academy, West Point and a Master of Science in Computer Information Systems from Boston University, Boston.  

Supervisory Special Agent Sohn will discuss the cyber threatscape affecting small and medium sized agencies and review what is to be protected and why within your organization. You will learn the basis for an understanding of the risks that need to be mitigated, the threats to be defended against and the vulnerabilities that should be addressed. Mr. Sohn takes a serious look at the future and risks of living in a continuous and over connected environment and will review the current problems and approaches to social media.   He will examine the “Internet of Everything” including the bad things coming to your organization and the requirement for both prive and government agencies to rethink their IT security strategy. Additionally, he will explore strategies to assist organizations in ensuring security is an enabler to their business drivers, mission and strategic initiatives. His presentation will cover the blueprints for building a solid security program across all endpoints, mobile devices and tablets for administrators and users.
